Abbreviation of Subaru Tecnica International, which is also the name of the performance division of Fuji Heavy Industries (Subaru's parent company). This division was established in 1988 and has been working on the preparation of Subaru vehicles to participate in the rally championship and other events. Subaru vehicles that carry this label are, by definition, the most powerful ones offered and their systems, such as transmission, differential, brakes, body components and wheels, are tailored to suit maximum performance and driveability.
